Lady Muck

Lady Muck

It was back to reality with an alarm clock this morning as I had to get up and ride back to Mallaig for the ferry. I really struggled to wake up and it was midge heaven by the loch so I was rather swift in packing away once I'd surfaced from my cosy cocoon. The sun was shining and the loch looked beautiful.

Loch

It was only a mile or so back to the ferry terminal but I'd gotten there early so that I could do what I do best and have a nice pot of tea. It wasn't long before we were off and on our way - today's destination was the Isle of Muck.

Ferry

Muck is the smallest of the four Small Isles and it's only road is about 2 miles long. The water was so calm on the crossing that there were many people out watching for wildlife and I saw a porpoise, woop!

Arriving on Muck at noon we only had about an hour and a half to explore before the ferry came back. The harbour was serene and the colours stunning.

Harbour

I set off on the only road of the island and 5 minutes later I could see the other side of it with a great view of the mountains of Rum in the distance.

Corner view with Rum

Another corner and another treat in store as I came across Gallanach Bay.

Bay

Me and Beast at Bay

The perfect spot for a bit of lunch and a bit of a lie down, enjoying the amazing views of Rum and Eigg and watching the seals in the bay.

Chilling

Views

It wasn't long before the rest of the ferry crowd caught up with me and so I set off again to find a nice quiet spot. I could sit and watch these views for a long time if given the chance but I had to make my way back to the ferry. Onboard I sat and watched the world go by. What a beautiful little island and such a glorious day. Arriving back at Mallaig I popped into the shop for tonights dinner and grabbed a bottle of beer to enjoy by the marina.

Heading up the rather steep road towards Mallaig Bheag I turned off towards the coast and found the perfect spot for the night.

Camp spot

Sitting on a rock in the sun drinking a beer after a nice dip in the sea - this is what it's all about for me. Just me, The Beast and everything I need....simples!
