On the mend

On the mend

Thanks to copious amounts of alcohol I slept like a log last night and don't even have a hangover this morning, yay. My foot is more swollen but the bruising hasn't gotten any worse and I can put a bit more weight on the ankle today which is fantastic news.

Progress

I'm actually feeling incredibly positive and relaxed about the whole situation. The old me would have been really depressed, frustrated and angry about things but I just feel very lucky that it's not the end of my journey and that it's just a temporary interlude. Yes the timing is frustrating as I won't get to ride with Barry this week but in the grand scheme of things I will have enforced rest which will mean that I can heal well, spend some time chilling out and hopefully get to ride again soon.

The messages of support, get wells and speedy recoveries from family and friends have been heart warming and I'm channeling the positive vibes down to my poorly ankle. Thank you!

Barry arrived at lunchtime and it was fantastic to see him. To see someone from what feels like my 'old' life was amazing and hugs are always a good thing! It was a bit surreal and bizarre at first but just wonderful to catch-up on lots of exciting news.

Barry and me

Saying a temporary goodbye for a few days as he rode off to do the routes that we had planned to ride together I'd by lying if I said I wasn't sad and a little bit jealous. The bigger picture though was that I wasn't capable and by resting 3 more days there is a much better chance that I would be ready to get back on the bike and do some light riding with him. So time for me to be lazy and hopefully heal quickly!
