The first week of January is over and it's check-in time for me. So how have I gotten on with my '10 things' so far? Surprisingly well actually! On the 'things to do more of' side I've been doing daily yoga workouts by following this free 30 day yoga practice called Dedicate. I came across Yoga with Adriene last year and did her 30 day practice last January and it left me feeling strong and toned. So a thumbs up on the 'more' side I think :-)
On the 'things to do less of' list I've also made good progress. I ordered a bamboo toothbrush, some natural toothpaste and couple of bars of natural soap to replace my current plastic riddled toiletries, thanks to a bit of shopping on Ethical Superstore.
I've been using soap bars instead of plastic-encased handwash for a while now but these bars are all natural. Bamboo toothbrushes have been on my radar for a while also but now I have my very own to try out, yay! Another step in the right direction was the toothpaste which comes in a glass jar and for extra brownie points was made in the UK :-) I'll let you know how I get on with them as the month goes by but it's exciting to see less plastic in my bathroom.
Eating less sugar I think has been the hardest one so far, craving that sweet hit that I'd gotten used to with the chocolate and biscuits of December. I've had a few headaches that I've attributed to the lack of sugar but managing to get my hit from a more natural sweetness in fruit - so far so good. My eating in general has been a lot better this week, I'm trying to listen to my body and only eat when I'm actually hungry rather than because I'm bored or eat out of comfort. It's one of those things that I find very difficult but I'm hoping that once I get into the habit of it then it'll become easier.
I think that's everything so far, ooh apart from writing more which I suppose this blog post must count as?? Well, it's only week 1 and Rome wasn't built in a day! Watch this space to see how I get on with the next 7 days.
